We make our money the old fashioned way, we earn it.

Collapse of Cultural Intelligence seems more accurate.

Once that kind of self-assisted, self-suicide is declared as the goal, anything particular form of collapse is possible.

We ignore our options the REALLY old fashioned way ... we burn 'em!

Between doomsayers and futurists, those of us who believe civilization will 'muddle through' are a minority. We don't make headlines.

The world muddles through between catastrophes. The catastrophes are more frequent than people like to admit and they shape pretty much everything. The muddling softens the edges and creates a sense of reality and stability that is rapidly destroyed and reset in one wild instant. But if ignoring the punctuation and focusing on the letters helps you to read, well then, we all need our little fictions to get us through the day.

Well Ryan, perhaps some of us have more realistic worries on our minds. The odds of my being affected by a catastrophe are very low. How much time should I spend predicting the future?

I wish I had an extra minute of life for every doomsday article that appears on the internet. I'd live forever!

You're probably right, Bob. But end of the world tickles the brain in a way that muddle can't. Supermodel vs Tax Accountant.
